Yarn wrapped letters

I have seen these, and figured it would be easy enough- and I was able to scrounge up some recycled materials (yarn from Resource Warehouse in Hickory) in order to try it out.  I started by using paperboard from a cracker box.  This worked, but it is much flimsier than cardboard.  You have to be careful to not pull too tight or the letters will not be as sturdy.  Use what you have on hand. . .

So to start, you cut your letter.  You need the back, front, and all the sides to make it a block letter.  I would plant on cutting all your sides 1 inch.

Once this is done.  Go through and tape all the pieces together.  I had scotch tape on hand.  Masking tape would probably work best for this, especially if you are using cardboard.

After it is all pieced together, glue down yarn on the ends of the letter.  Trim up the edges so it is easier to wrap.  Then start wrapping.  You may need to wrap twice in order to get the coverage you want.

And ta da!
